Since I was a resident in their inaugural year in 2010, I've gone back to ACRE several consecutive summers to help staff the residency. I have mostly worked as a part of the kitchen staff, but have been a part of some renovation projects at the farm as well as fundraising, installing, and other developmental projects throughout the year.
My first collaboration with ACRE was starting TAIST with several friends of mine. TAIST was an art install team that hangs exhibitions at a professional level for the price of beer and food, giving opportunity to artists that can't afford to hire help as well as international or out-of-state artists that can't make it to their ACRE exhibition.
Over time, we began collaborating as a partner gallery through The Chicago Perch.
ACRE has been one of the most positive influences in my development as an artist, and I will continue to encourage everyone to apply to their residency with any chance I get.
