Candor Arts began as a project co-created with Ally Hasche in Los Angeles in 2015. We first put together an online boutique of handmade goods by emerging artists to support their pursuits as small businesses.
We closed the company in L.A. later that year, Ally went on to pursue a career as an interior designer, and I re-incorporated Candor Arts as a small publishing company based out of my Chicago living room in August 2016.
I now co-own the business with Melanie Teresa Bohrer and we work together as a team with Katie Chung and Hannah Batsel.
From our studio in West Town, we publish books about life, learning and healing. The authors we select to publish share personal accounts of their lives—offering therapeutic perspectives on learning and healing. The projects always derive from human experience and often address contemporary issues in society. Most of the work that we design and produce is done by hand.
